- Understanding evolution of narrow band high frequency hearing in odontocetes
- Description of the project
- During the evolutionary history of odontocetes, certain groups of animals started using narrow band high frequency sounds. Among these, the are the pontopoiids. By obtaining scannes of the inner ear of fossils referred to this group we aim to learn more about when and how this type of hearing evolved.
