Project title
Review of the brachiopod collection from the Upper Cretaceous o housed in the MNHN
Description of the project
The main aim of the research is to develop a detailed study on some specimens from the Upper Cretaceous brachiopod collection housed in the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN). It is planned to access to MNHN'S X-RAY Tomography (one day during the stay) to scan the brachidium of some Syntypes belonging to d'Orbigny collection. X-ray CT permits 3D modelling of the brachidium, which is important for brachiopod classification. The work in the museum will be focused on comparing the brachiopods from the Upper Cretaceous of France and Belgium housed in MNHN, especially the types, with equivalent materials from Spain, which are currently under taxonomical study.
